Tax Filing Built for Digital Nomads
Working from Bali this month, Lisbon next? No fixed home, multiple income sources, clients in different countries, your tax situation doesn't fit a standard mould. We built Nomadic.Tax precisely for this: AI-assisted preparation that handles multi-currency income, self-employment, and cross-border complexity, reviewed by CPAs and accountants who work with nomads daily.
Is this for me?
- Freelancers and remote workers without a fixed home base
- Multiple clients or income sources in different currencies
- Self-employed with Schedule C or UK self-employment income
- Spending time in multiple countries each year
- Uncertain which country you're tax-resident in
Why this is complex
- Multi-country income must be reported in one home-country return
- Self-employment tax (US) applies even when living abroad
- FEIE Physical Presence Test can be tricky for frequent travelers
- Some countries have digital nomad visas that affect tax residency
- FBAR aggregates all foreign accounts, easy to unknowingly exceed the threshold

Frequently asked questions about Tax Filing Built for Digital Nomads
Which country do I owe taxes to if I'm always moving?
Tax residency is determined by each country's own rules, it's not just about days spent. The US taxes its citizens everywhere, regardless of residency. For non-US persons, tax residency typically follows a 'substantial presence' or 183-day test. We help you determine your obligations and structure your filing correctly.
I earn in USD, EUR and GBP, how does multi-currency work?
All income must be reported in your home currency. We handle the conversion using IRS-approved or HMRC-approved rates, and account for timing of payments. This is one area where getting it wrong is common, our system handles it automatically.
Do I qualify for the Foreign Earned Income Exclusion as a nomad?
Possibly, if you're a US citizen or resident and spend 330 full days outside the US in any 12-month period (Physical Presence Test), you can claim FEIE. Many true nomads qualify. We'll review your travel pattern as part of the filing.
What about FBAR, I have accounts in multiple countries?
If the combined balance of all your foreign financial accounts exceeded $10,000 at any point in the year, you must file FBAR (FinCEN 114). Multiple accounts across countries are aggregated together for the threshold. Our Expat package includes FBAR.
